Lawyer seeks to have case fraud case transferred to St. Ann

Lawyers for attorney at law Sean Kinghorn, who is facing fraud charges, on Tuesday lost their bid to have his case transferred to St Ann.

Mr Kinghorn has been charged with conspiracy to defraud. His secretary, Ruth Kelly Spencer, and another man, Linton Campbell, are charged jointly in the case.

Mr Kinghorn's attorney applied for the case to be transferred, on the ground that the Corporate Area Criminal Court did not have jurisdiction to hear the case.

The presiding magistrate refused the application, and the Preliminary Enquiry into the matter is now scheduled for Thursday.

Mr Kinghorn and the other accused are charged with conspiring to forge  the Will of a deceased woman, Lila Minott, in 2012.

Prosecutors say the forged will resulted in a $25 million property in St Ann, owned by Mrs Minott, being turned over to Mr Campbell, even though her husband was alive.

They added that Mr Campbell also gained access to her bank accounts, due to the Will.

Mr Kinghorn and his Secretary were charged, after they claimed they witnessed the signing of  the Will.
