The body of late musical icon Gregory Isaacs was flown to Jamaica on Wednesday from the United Kingdom following a memorial service in North London Wednesday afternoon.
A throng of musicians and fans attended the service, where a message written by Isaacs during his last days, was read by Clifton Morrison from the music fraternity.
It stated that Isaacs had harvested much in his life time and shared the joy he had with many.
Mr. Morrison said Isaacs was a loyal and hard working musician.
He said Isaacs's music will live on as he was loved and he knew it.
Ambassador Anthony Johnson, Jamaica's High Commissioner to Britain, brought greetings on behalf of the Government, Opposition and people of Jamaica.
He said it was difficult to say whether the service was a joyful or sad occasion as we will never hear or see Isaacs again while his success and powerful voice that has lifted reggae music to great heights will live on.
He added that Isaacs used his music to spread the spirit of Jamaica internationally.
Ras Seymour Mclean of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, who was also in attendance, said Jamaica giving Isaacs an official funeral, is a blessing,
The father of 12 died of lung cancer on October 25 in London.
An official service is to be held in Kingston next Thursday.
