Lucea Hospital to get facelift

Health Minister Rudyard Spencer has announced that the Noel Holmes Hospital in Lucea, Hanover will be getting well needed improvements.

He made the announcement following a tour of the hospital on Wednesday.

For several years, the hospital's physical structure has suffered from neglect as well as other problems.

This has resulted in most major cases being transferred to the Cornwall Regional Hospital.

"To my mind, it is unacceptable ... it has absolutely nothing to do with politics, what we're sure about is that Lucea deserves better and with the support of your Member of Parliament Ian Hayles, we're going to make it a little bit better," he said.

According to Mr. Spencer, not much can be done to change the physical structure of the institution, which is a heritage site.

However repairs will begin in two weeks.

The Health Minister lauded the staff at the facility for maintaining a high standard of service despite the deplorable conditions.
