The Kingston Western police have laid charges against a 36-year-old man for the shooting of a 15-year-old girl in Tivoli Gardens last month.

Desbert Bogle, otherwise called 'Marvin', a resident of Tivoli Gardens, was charged Wednesday with several offences including shooting with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition and making use of a firearm to commit a felony.

The police had launched a search of Mr. Bogle after the 15-year-old student, who resides in St. Catherine, turned up at hospital with a bullet wound on August 30.

It was initially reported that the teen was attacked and shot by gunmen in the West Kingston area.

But an investigation revealed that the girl was shot inside an apartment in Tivoli Gardens in which persons were playing with a firearm.

It's reported that Mr. Bogle and the 15-year-old were in the apartment when he shot her.

He then rushed her to hospital where she was admitted in critical condition.

Mr. Bogle surrendered to the police on Monday and was subsequently charged.
