A man was shot dead during a reported confrontation with the police in St. Catherine on Wednesday night.
The incident occurred near Lakes Pen.
It's reported that about 7:15 p.m., police personnel were on patrol along Port Henderson Road when, upon reaching the vicinity of a bar, they observed a group of men.
A man reportedly brandished a handgun and started firing at the police.
The police returned the fire.
When the shooting subsided, the unidentified man was found with gunshot injuries.
According to the police, an AG-9 nine millimetre pistol was retrieved from the man who has not yet been identified.
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is probing the incident.
