Man freed of charges in relation to 2008 triple murder

By Racquel Porter

A man who was on trial for the 2008 gang-related murder of three people, including a pregnant woman on Verman Avenue in Kingston, has been freed.

Ricardo Moodie was freed Thursday after Justice Leighton Pusey upheld a no-case submission by his attorneys Tamika Harris and Shadae Bailey.

The attorneys highlighted the poor lighting conditions on the day of the incident and insisted that identification evidence was insufficient to be left to the jury.

This issue was further compounded by the unavailability of the witness for cross-examination.

The evidence presented was primarily documentary or on paper, as the main witness had died of natural causes.

Mr. Moodie was charged with four other men, all of whom had been released on bail but were subsequently murdered.
