Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Calvin Allen
A decision has been made to temporarily close Marcus Garvey Drive in Kingston. This is to prevent motorists from entering the area where road rehabilitation is taking place.
Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Calvin Allen, acting head of the Police Operations Branch, said the flow of water in the area is of great concern.
As a result, the area leading from East Avenue to Industrial Terrace, and further to Water Lane will be temporarily closed.
Acting ACP Allen said traffic flowing east-bound from Portmore or Portia Simpson Miller Square, heading into Kingston, will be diverted at East Avenue and onto Spanish Town Road. West-bound traffic will flow through Darling Street and onto Spanish Town Road.
However, companies located on Marcus Garvey Drive will be permitted to travel westward to access their businesses.
Acting ACP Allen said the authorities will continue to monitor the situation and provide further updates.
