The new speaker of the House of Representatives took up the high chair in Parliament's lower house on Tuesday afternoon.
Member of Parliament for South Trelawny, Marissa Dalrymple Phillibert was selected to be the new speaker to replace Delroy Chuck who was appointed to the post of Justice Minister.
Despite shouts from Opposition members for Everald Warmington to be nominated, the former deputy speaker was ushered to sit in the high chair by ministers Dr Christopher Ttufton, Delroy Chuck and Tarn Peralto.
Mrs Phillibert who offered praise on being selected as the new house speaker warned members that the acrimonious debate to which the House has become accustomed will not be tolerated by her:
South East St. Mary MP, Tarn Peralto was selected the new deputy speaker.
