Meat of stolen cows recently slaughtered in St. Mary said to be unfit for consumption

The Agricultural Protection Branch [APB]] Area Two, is warning members of the public not to purchase or consume meat from recently slaughtered cattle in Rose End, St. Mary, and surrounding communities, as it may be contaminated and dangerous to human health.

This warning follows the theft and illegal slaughter of cows that were in the final stage of pregnancy.

Reports indicate that a farmer secured 11 cows on a plot of farmland before retiring for the night, but approximately 6:00 a.m. yesterday the animals were discovered missing.

Two of the cows were later found slaughtered on the property, including one carrying a fully developed calf.

Investigations suggest the illegal slaughter occurred between 3:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. on the same day.

A veterinarian confirmed that the animals had recently been injected with chemicals, making the meat unfit for human consumption.

The public is urged to be cautious of beef being sold at unusually low prices, as consuming contaminated meat can lead to serious illness or death.

For police assistance or to provide information, call 119 or Crime Stop at 311.
