Media barred from hearing case of man accused of killing missionaries

By Racquel Porter

The media was on Tuesday afternoon barred from hearing the case of Dwight Henry, who is accused of killing of two missionaries in St. Mary in 2016.

Henry, through his attorney, Diane Jobson, on Monday indicated that he wishes to enter a guilty plea.

Prior to banning members of the media from covering the hearing, Justice Leighton Pusey said publications could jeopardise the trial for Henry's co-accused, Andre Thomas.

The indictment on which Henry and Thomas were jointly charged was  severed today.

Thomas, through his attorney, Leroy Equiano, told the court that his client wants the trial to proceed.

His matter has been set for Thursday.

Thomas is also represented by attorney Althea Freeman while Henry is represented by Denise Jobson and Kerry-Ann Duhaney.

The men are charged with the murder of 48-year-old Randy Hentzel and 53-year-old Harold Nichols.

Both were found dead in Wentworth district, St. Mary on April 30 and May 1, 2016, respectively.
