The two men who were killed in an attack Tuesday night in Green Island, Hanover, have been identified as Awon Richards and Oneil Spence, both 27 years old of Mavis Bank, St. Andrew.
Three other people were shot and injured in the incident.
Superintendent Sharon Beeput, head of the Hanover Police, told Radio Jamaica News that investigators are still trying to establish a motive for the shooting.
The police reported that about 8 o'clock, people were at a cook shop purchasing food when a man walked up and opened fire on the crowd.
Five people were shot.
One of the victims died at the scene, while the other was pronounced dead at hospital.
The son of the shop operator is among those hospitalised.
The cook shop is said to be frequented by hotel workers.
Richards and Spence were employees on a hotel construction site in the area.
