The National Water Commission (NWC) has increased water trucking operations in the northern parish of Trelawny, particularly in the community of Stewart Town which was the scene of a road block and demonstration involving residents on Monday.
The police had their hands full as they attempted to deal with the protesters who blocked several kilometres of the Stewart Town to Jackson Town main road.
In a statement, following the protest on Monday, the NWC said it met with the residents, some of whom were not receiving water because the truck serving the general area could not access some sections because of the hilly terrain. A decision has been made to procure smaller trucks for that purpose.
Piped water was disrupted early last month because of mechanical problems at the Barnstaple Deep Well facility.
