Mountain View and Greenwich Farm rocked by violence

Two sections of Kingston were on Tuesday morning rocked by violence as the bloodletting continues across the island.

This time the volatile areas of Greenwich Farm and lower Mountain View Avenue were the targets.

Lower Mountain View Avenue is now tense following a shooting incident at a wake on Jarrett Lane Tuesday morning.

The wake was being held for slain area leader Gregory Thompson, otherwise called "Calla", who was killed in Montego Bay St. James just over a week ago.

It is reported that one person was killed in Tuesday morning's attack and four others injured.

The police now say they have established a strong presence in the area, but when our news team visited earlier we did not see the police and residents encouraged us to leave the community.

In the meantime, a tense calm prevails over Greenwich Farm following Tuesday morning's shooting death of a man and the injuring of other persons.

A man said to be the brother of the dead man was abducted by the gunmen.

According to reports reaching RJR News, shortly after midnight gunmen kicked off the doors to some of the houses on East Avenue and opened fire.

Meanwhile, 35-year-old Oniel Grant of Grove Road Kingston 10, was shot dead by two gunmen on Darling Street in Kingston Monday.

The police say Mr. Grant was at the bus terminus when he was approached by the gunmen.

They fired several shots which hit him.

The police were called and Mr. Grant was taken to hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
