New Kingston traffic changes

The National Works Agency (NWA) will be implementing major traffic changes in New Kingston come Monday.

The changes will affect right turning movement and parking along most streets.

Motorists will not be allowed to make right turns from Knutsford Boulevard onto Dominica Drive or from Knutsford Boulevard onto Trinidad Terrace.

Dominica Drive which is currently a one way street will now accommodate two lane traffic flowing in opposite directions.

Parking on this road will therefore no longer be allowed.

Come Monday, the road between Knutsford Boulevard and Altamont Crescent will be converted into a one way street.

The road along Barbados Avenue and Grenada Crescent will carry two lanes.

No vehicles will be allowed to park in the following areas - Knutsford Boulevard, Grenada Crescent, Dominica Drive, Trinidad Terrace, Barbados Avenue and Altamont Crescent.

The changes are part of the NWA's $8.5 million traffic management programme which will see the implementation of high tech-traffic signals in the Corporate Area.

The NWA said the new signals will be equipped with sensors to synchronize and regulate traffic flow at each intersection.
