One of Jamaica's major food suppliers is confident Jamaica will not be affected by the severe shortage of  baby formula in the United States.

According to Richard Pandohie, CEO of  Seprod, there is adequate supply locally to satisfy demand.

The baby formula shortage in the US is linked to supply chain challenges and the closure of  a major factory in February after a recall linked to bacteria.

Experts say this is the worst formula shortage in decades.

Pandohie told Radio Jamaica News that more of the product will be availabile in Jamaica within days, explaining that "we have inventory on the ground that can meet demand and we have shipments coming in this week, that will add another... six weeks of supply to what we have now."
