Radio Jamaica News has been informed that public sector nurses continued their protest action on Wednesday.
The nurses have been calling in sick over the last few days.
Registered and enrolled nurses, as well as registered midwives, have been reporting sick at several hospitals in the South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA).
The nurses are reportedly disgruntled over the outstanding payment of salaries, uniform allowance and retroactive overtime.
But regional director for SERHA, Lascelles Brown, told Radio Jamaica News that the protest has not caused major disruptions to health care services at hospitals in the region.
He said SERHA is in discussions with the Health Ministry to address the concerns of the nurses.
Mr. Brown said arrangements are being made for the outstanding payments to be settled by the end of the month.
