The National Works Agency has cleared a massive landslide that left scores of motorists and commuters in St. Thomas and St. Andrew stranded for several hours on Tuesday morning.
The landslide blocked the Gordon Town to Guava Ridge main road at Violet Ridge preventing access to people travelling from as far as Hagley Gap and the surrounding communities in St. Thomas and parts of St. Andrew.
The motorists were forced to park their vehicles and join other commuters, including students, to walk across the landslide to access public transportation.
The landslide occurred following heavy overnight rain.
The NWA was able to quickly mobilise a team to respond.
"We dispatched heavy equipment into the space this morning and the road has been cleared and so traffic is once again moving through that area," said NWA Communication Manager Stephen Shaw.
