In an effort to prevent possible lawsuits from injuries, work is being done to cover all open manholes along Burke Road in Spanish Town in the central parish of St Catherine.
The targeted area is between the Spanish Town bus terminus to the Spanish Town Hospital where persons in the scrap metal trade removed several covers.
Denise Daley, Member of Parliament for Eastern St Catherine, told RJR News that the road is heavily used and the uncovered manholes pose a danger:
“As a result we realize the danger in not getting these manholes covered. So therefore, I spoke with the Mayor and the Mayor made representation and the NWA (National Works Agency), is in the process of making repairs and to replace manhole covers in and around Spanish Town but more so on Burke Road” Daley said.
