The National Water Commission (NWC) has corrected the wastewater issue that was reported on Collie Smith Drive in Trench Town.
The NWC says the problem was rectified on Monday.
It says a team returned to the area on Tuesday morning and found no recurrence.
The Radio Jamaica newscentre reported a complaint from residents that the sewage had been overflowing for two days following heavy rains.
The NWC noted that in most instances, its teams respond to and rectify these issues within 24 hours.
However, the commission said incidents of sewage overflow have become frequent, and based on assessment, the poor disposal of solids is one of the main contributors.
The NWC is reminding the public that sewers should not be used as garbage disposal receptacles.
