A crew from the National Water Commission (NWC) has been sent to repair a collapsed sewer main in Edgewater in Portmore, St. Catherine.
Acting Public Relations Manager of the NWC Delano Williams says the work should be completed within seven days.
Mr. Williams says the technical team is now working through the logistics of undertaking the work.
"We detected the issue recently and based on our checks, it warranted excavation and replacement of the sewer mains which are over 15 feet below ground. It is going to take some diversion of traffic but that will be necessary because of the inconvenience and impact on the immediate surroundings. There is some collaboration that will be required to address a utility pole that is in close proximity to the exiting line," he explained.
