The widespread telecommunications outage on the weekend which affected customers of FLOW Jamaica, is to be the subject of a probe by the Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR).
The regulator has written to the company asking for a preliminary report on what it says is the extensive and widespread disruption to telecommunication services Friday and Saturday.
The OUR says it wants the information by this Thursday. It wants FLOW to confirm the time, extent and duration of the service outage.
The regulator says it also wants to know what corrective or remedial action was taken to address the outage, the restoration time and the number of affected customers.
Also on the request list from the regulator is the communication to customers regarding the outage, the steps taken subsequent to restoration and any future related steps to be taken.
According to the OUR, it will determine the next steps after receiving FLOW’s report.
