Oversight committee to seek clarity on issues in latest IC report

Justice Minister Delroy Chuck is hopeful that concerns raised about the recently tabled annual report of the Integrity Commission will be cleared up in short order.

 

The Commission in its annual report stated that there are eight politicians being investigated for illicit enrichment.

 

In its previous annual report, the commission had indicated that six parliamentarians were under investigation for unexplained wealth.

 

Mr. Chuck said the Integrity Commission Oversight Committee will be probing the so called 'illicit 8' among other issues. 

 

"The oversight committee, we're examining the report, and we hope to meet with the commissioners hopefully in the next week or two, to express our concerns and identify issues which we think should be addressed. We need to find out from them exactly how did they arrive at these figures.... So a lot of the information which the public needs, we hope to get from them when we meet with them," he said.
