The Press Association of Jamaica (PAJ) is extending profound condolences to the family, friends, colleagues and wider media fraternity on the passing of Alma Mock-Yen.
The veteran broadcast journalism trainer and radio personality passed away at her home on Wednesday morning.
She was at 97.
In a statement Wednesday afternoon, the PAJ described her as a distinguished broadcaster, whose voice, intellect and professionalism helped shape Jamaican broadcast journalism for decades.
It added that Mock-Yen was a respected and pioneering figure in the media landscape, known for her calm authority, incisive, interviewing style and unwavering commitment to journalistic integrity.
She served as a role model for generations of journalists, particularly women entering the profession.
The PAJ added that Alma Mock-Yen was a trailblazer, whose legacy will continue to influence Jamaican media for years to come, adding that her passing represents a significant loss to the profession and to the nation.
