The road from Papine in St. Andrew to Hardware Gap which has been blocked for several weeks due to a landslide has been reopened.

A team from the National Works Agency completed the removal of debris late Monday afternoon.

NWA Communication Manager Stephen Shaw says further work is being carried out to prevent another landslide along the thoroughfare.

"We have to work while keeping an eye on the river because there is every likelihood that if it rains heavily in that area, we may very well see the corridor being reblocked.... But for now, the corridor is open to vehicular traffic so motorists can once again go from St. Andrew into Portland via this corridor," he said.
