Leecent Wallace, Principal of Christiana High School
The Manchester police are investigating the murder of a Christiana High School student whose partially burnt body was found Monday afternoon in bushes at her house in Riverside Drive in Baillieston, Spalding, Clarendon.
She has been identified as 13-year-old as Santina Sergeant.
The Spalding Police Station, which falls within the Manchester Police Division, is investigating the matter.
The Constabulary Communications Unit said Santina was reported missing on Friday. During a search of her house on Monday, the teen's body was found a under burnt refrigerator and bed sometime after 5 p.m.
Leecent Wallace, Principal of Christiana High, told Radio Jamaica News that the 13-year-old student last attended school on Wednesday of last week.
Mr. Wallace said he was informed by the police when the body of the teenager was found.
"It was late this evening that I received the distressing report from the Spalding Police that the body was found at her Baillieston home in Clarendon and it was found under horrific circumstances, where the body was found burnt and covered under and old fridge at the back of the house. Boy, it's just sad," the principal bemoaned.
