Passport Office to move to downtown, Kingston

The days of roasting in the sun under tents and jostling for space in the cramped suites of the Passport Office on Constant Spring could soon be a distant memory for applicants.

The Ministry of National Security says the passport office is to be relocated to a new site in Downtown Kingston.

The ground and first floors of the Urban Development Corporation building at Ocean Towers in downtown Kingston is the proposed site for the Passport office.

Minister of state with responsibility for the Passport Immigration and Citizenship Agency, Senator Arthur Williams told our news centre that the ministry is examining architectural drawings to determine how best to modify the building for its new purpose.

The 100 staff members at the corporate headquarters on Balmoral Avenue and at Constant Spring road are also to be relocated to the new building but the ministry has not yet given a timeline for the proposed move.
