Opposition Spokesman on Energy Phillip Paulwell has urged the Government to take action on the issue of electricity theft.

The Jamaica Public Service Company has been plagued by the illegal abstraction of electricity over the years, resulting in the company implementing several measures to counter the practice.

The light & power company has appealed to the Government to help with resolving the longstanding issue.

In his contribution to the Sectoral Debate in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, Mr Paulwell said the Energy Minister needs to lead the quest to find solutions.

"This is one time I want to join in the call by JPS and everybody for a nationa solution," he declared, adding that "it will help to lower the light bills."
