Jennifer McDonald, Head of PICA
As fears increase about the Ebola Virus getting into the island, Head of the Passport Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA) Jennifer McDonald, is making a special appeal to Jamaicans who travel.
She's urging that accurate information be provided on their immigration forms when they are returning to the island, in an effort to track the virus if it spreads to Jamaica. PICA has already issued instructions to immigration officers to increase surveillance at the country's airports.
Miss McDonald, told RJR News that inbound passengers have an obligation to state where they have travelled before entering Jamaica.
"Passengers coming to the country really should be truthful to Immigration, and tell us where you have been," she stressed, noting in particular that the section which asks for an indication of the countries visited "in the last six weeks," is very critical in the context of the Ebola alert.
"Persons need to answer that truthfully because they would have signed, indicating that this is a truthful statement," she stressed.
