Plane crash in Dominica kills pilot

A Cessna aircraft crashed in Dominica on Thursday with the pilot, who was the sole occupant, being killed.

Benoit Bardouille, Chief Executive Officer of the Dominica Air and Seaport Authority, said the plane, which was travelling from Martinique to Guadeloupe, crashed in a wooded area about four and half miles west of the Douglas Charles airport.

Mr. Bardouille said French authorities informed the agency that they lost contact with the small aircraft and needed help from Dominica in locating it.

Last week, a Sky High Aviation Services Jetstream 41 aircraft crash landed in Dominica.

The Dominican Republic-based aircraft had 32 people on board including three crew members.

There were no fatalities.
