Prime Minister Andrew Holness says the Government will soon be able to implement a national waste separation programme.
The NSWMA currently has a such a programme in a limited number of communities.
Mr Holness says the 50 new garbage trucks added to the fleet of the National Solid Waste Management Authority this week provide the opportunity further to expand the programme.
The Prime Minister, speaking Tuesday at a handing-over ceremony for 50 new garbage trucks to the NSWMA, said the government intends to increase the capabilities of the agency to facilitate an expansion of the garbage separation programme.
He disclosed as well that the government is in the process of working out how the waste separation programme will be implemented.
