Denise Daley, Member of Parliament for St. Catherine Eastern
By Kimone Witter
The People's National Party (PNP) took its protest against the government's management of the country to Spanish Town, St. Catherine on Monday morning.
The postponement of the local government election and the public sector negotiations were among the issues highlighted by Member of Parliament for St. Catherine Eastern, Denise Daley.
"We are tired of the dictatorship. We are tired of the condition in which the government is running the country.... The people are tired and we are here for a number of things: the teachers, we are here for the councillors, we are here because we believe that the people of this country deserve better and too much things is happening and nobody is saying anything," she complained.
Ms Daley said the approach of the Ministry of Finance to the wage negotiations has been wrong.
At the first demonstration in Cross Roads, St. Andrew last week, the PNP said the protests are part of plans to connect with the electorate and to press the government on the ills affecting the society.
