The Jamaica Constabulary Force is cautioning the public against a fraudulent message circulating online that claims to offer a Christmas Cash Grant in the name of Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness.
The JCF says this is a scam, designed to trick unsuspecting individuals into clicking malicious links and sharing personal or financial information.
It says at this time of year, criminals are more active in their attempts to scam and defraud people.
According to the JCF these tactics often involve phishing, smishing (fraudulent text messages), and other forms of cyberattacks.
Members of the public are being urged to remain vigilant and cautious when interacting with online messages, links, or offers that seem too good to be true.
The JCF is reminding members of the public to verify before they clicking on links and avoid clicking on links from unverified sources.
The public is also being urged not to share sensitive personal or financial details, such as passwords or banking information, with unknown or suspicious sources.
Reports of suspicious activity can be made to the Jamaica Constabulary Force Cybercrime Unit at 876-922-3288.
