The police in collaboration with the Transport Authority continued their clamp down on an errant drivers doing an operation in Half Way Tree, St. Andrew on Thursday morning.

Several drivers, including public passenger vehicle operators, have been subject to inspections in a series of spot checks, which started around 8 o'clock along Half Way Tree Road.

Thursday's effort builds on the June 12 operation by the St. Andrew South Police, where at least five delinquent drivers with over 300 outstanding tickets were taken into custody during the operation along Spanish Town Road.

Acting Senior Superintendent Mark Harris, Commanding Officer for the St. Andrew Central Police Division, says the authorities have been maintaining a presence in the Half Way Tree area to ensure motorists are compliant with the traffic laws.

"We started this morning from different areas, but we are presently at a central location now. We are conducting police operations with other agencies in the Half Way Tree area. It's ongoing. Once persons are on a warrant or commit breaches, we arrest them. So it's ongoing," he said.
