Police hunt suspect in ‘Captain Barkey’s’ death

The police in Bronx, New York remain on the hunt for a man named as a suspect in Saturday's shooting of  dancehall entertainer Wayne Hamilton more popularly known as Captain Barkey.

The 50-year-old entertainer was killed along with 38-year-old Tracy Bennett as they left a motel in the Bronx.

Reports  are  that Bennett and Hamilton were about to get in her Toyota Camry  about 3am  when they were confronted by Kernizan, a music promoter on Long Island/

Captain Barkey attempted to run but was shot multiple times .

Eyewitnesses say he then turned the weapon on Miss Bennett who screamed “Don’t do it! Don’t do it!”

Despite her pleas he reportedly shot her twice .

Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Captain Barkey was one half of  the performing duo known as Captain Barkey and Wickerman, and known for hits such as Bun fi Bun and Go Go Wine.

He was said to have taunted his accused killer in a song entitled ‘nah lef Joe.’

Friends said the song was aimed at Joseph Kernizan, 42, the man cops are hunting for killing and Captain Barkey  and his lover early Saturday  morning.

Dancehall artist Wickerman reportedly said he had  urged Captain Barkey over and over again  to end the relationship with Bennett as Kernizan was “a serious man.”
