Police keep an eye on Alligator Pond

The Alligator Pond Police have called in reinforcement as they monitor activities relating to the burial of Anthony Richards whose killing sparked a fiery protest just over three weeks ago.

Speaking with RJR News on Sunday afternoon, sub-officer in charge of the Alligator Pond Police station, Sergeant Donovan Boothe said police personnel have been deployed throughout the community.

On January 1, residents of the usually quiet community attacked personnel at the police station and set fire to a police service vehicle as they protested against the shooting of two men from their community.

The police maintained that Mr. Richards and another man who was shot and injured were fired on after they attacked members of a police patrol who had responded to reports of a robbery.

Not long after the incident, the Police High Command reported that police personnel who were involved in the controversial shooting incident had been removed from front line duties.
