Assistant Commissioner Clifford Chambers, head of the Area One police
Police investigators in Trelawny say they are following leads in their investigation into the murder of four people at a house in Duanvale on Monday night.
Two women and their common law spouses were shot dead at a two storey house on Mountain Lane.
They are 51-year-old Cordel Graham and his partner 43-year-old Nicole White as well as 21-year-old Amelia Livingston and her partner 27-year-old Akeem Robinson.
Four children, ages 3 to 9, were unharmed.
Assistant Commissioner Clifford Chambers, head of the Area One police, said the police believe the incident may have stemmed from a double murder that occurred in 2017.
"In that incident in November 2017, one of the deceased in this matter was identified as one of the shooter in that double murder where a 25-year-old lady was shot and killed and her 8-year-old son. In that incident as well, we had four other persons who were shot and injured, age 14, 17, 23 and 8. The suspect in that case, who is now a deceased here, was arrested, but investigators had difficulties proffering charges against him because of identification purposes,' he disclosed.
ACP Chambers said another theory the police are pursuing is that the now deceased suspect in the November 2017 murder, Akeem Robinson, was an alleged scammer who had been in conflict with people from Kinloss, another Trelawny community.
"During the 2017 attack, there was a male from Spanish Town who escaped in that incident. And so, again, that is an investigative note that investigators will also be following up to see if that person has anything to do with this current crime."
The head of the Area One police sought to assure that investigators will be pursuing all leads as they seek to solve Monday night's quadruple killing.
"The investigators are experienced, they know what they are looking for. There is forensic evidence that will be brought to bear on the investigation and we're confident that there are some positive results that will come from what they are doing," he insisted.
