The police have reportedly identified and are searching for the suspect in the sexual assault of two minors in Old Harbour, St. Catherine.
A senior investigator told Radio Jamaica News on Wednesday afternoon that the police are making progress in the case and are hoping to capture the suspect soon.
The incident involves two primary school girls. The St. Catherine South Police reported that the two girls, aged 9 and 10, were assaulted last Wednesday, May 7.
According to police, the children were walking home from school in Church Pen, Old Harbour around midday, when they were approached by a man unknown to them.
He allegedly forced them into nearby bushes, threatened to kill them if they raised an alarm, and sexually assaulted them.
The young victims are receiving medical treatment and counselling.
The police are appealing to anyone with information on the suspect to make contact with them.
