Police yet to make a breakthrough in missing girl case

The St. Catherine North Police said they are yet to make a breakthrough in the case of Abigail Smith, the nine year old girl who went missing last month in Macca Tree in the parish.

Deputy Superintendent in charge of administration for the division, Samuel Anderson, on Tuesday morning told the RJR News centre that the police are searching for the missing girl.

"Following some leads, we have searched a number of areas and questioned a number of persons including the child's mother and father. We are appealing to the community that if anyone should have any idea to where the child may be to call the Spanish Town Police by calling 984-3161 or my cell number which is 999-8907," said Deputy Superintendent Anderson.

Abigail, a grade three student at the Browns Hall Primary School in the parish disappeared on the afternoon of April 22 while walking home.

Residents have complained that the police have yet to mount a serious search of the area.
