After seven weeks of considering their options of who would be the new test captain, Cricket West Indies (CWI) on Friday officially announced that Roston Chase will lead the region's red ball team.
Chase, who previously led the West Indies in one ODI and one T20 International, got the nod over Jamaican John Campbell, former test vice-captain Joshua da Silva of Trinidad and Tobago, fellows Bajans Justin Greaves and Jomel Warrican as well as Tevin Imlach of Guyana.
Chase's first assignment in the longest format will be the three-test home series against world number one Australia, which begins at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados on June 25.
