McKoy was found guilty last month for the August 2013 murder of Jessica King at the Errol Flynn Marina. Ms. King was killed after she decided to end their five year relationship.
Justice Lloyd Hibbert ordered that McKoy serve 25 years behind bars before becoming eligible for parole. McKoy's attorney, Carlton Collman, asked for leniency, pointing out that the former Constable has two children.
However, Justice Hibbert pointed Mr. Collman to the evidence which showed that although a teacher was passing and witnessed Ms. King begging for her life, McKoy was not deterred and pulled the trigger, hitting her three times.
McKoy tried to take his life but survived after shooting himself twice in the head.
