Dental surgeons in the public health system are vowing to keep up their protest to press the government on their remuneration under the new compensation scheme.

The dental surgeons took strike action on Monday and on Wednesday they took their protest to the offices of the Ministry of Finance and the Transformation Implementation Unit.

The Transformation Implementation Unit in the Ministry of Finance has promised to hold talks with the ministries of Health and Finance to find an amicable solution.

President of the Jamaica Association of Public Dental Surgeons Dr. Vanessa Kiffin said the doctors are disappointed with the lack of movement on their concerns.

"We haven't gotten any communication from the Ministry of Finance, to my knowledge. At this point we continue with our action in form of a sitting, and we will continue until we get something in writing from them. So, for the sake of the public interest and so on, we are attending to emergencies, but we'll intensify the action if we don't get anything concrete in short order. So it's very disappointing for us to see the kind of regard that this major issue is being shown," she lamented.
