Public health inspectors across the island are restive over the handling of the compensation restructuring and outstanding retroactive payments.

Jamaica Association of Public Health Inspectors (JAPHI) says it concluded negotiations with the Ministry of Finance and was told that all outstanding retroactive payments would be made in March.

It adds that, in March, it was advised that outstanding payments will instead be made by June, the end of the first quarter of this financial year.

The group says word has come that only increments will be paid.

JAPHI President Michael Myles says the constant moving of the goal post in relation to the payments is unacceptable.

"When the dust is settled and June 25 [comes], if outstanding monies are not paid, guarantee of normalcy is not assured. Presently, we are [awaiting] the directives from the various regions and the ministry. When that time comes, then we will decide the course of action to take," he warned.
