Recreational fishing tragedy on old Portmore causeway

A 62 year-old businessman died on Sunday morning after his vehicle veered off the old Portmore causeway  in St. Catherine, just moments after he had wrapped up a fishing trip in the restricted area. 
 
The man has been identified as Jing Wang Wang of 18 Hopefield avenue Kingston 6.
 
Sergeant Canute Nairne, a member of the Police Marine Division, said law enforcement personnel encountered difficulties during rescue efforts. 
 
He reiterated that the area is prohibited for such activities and is further urging fishermen not to cast lines along the bridge
 
Sergeant Nairne said  signs prohibiting fishing in the area have been mounted, but members of the public continue to remove them.
