Region 6 principals get help crafting school improvement plans

 

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Dr. Kasan Troupe, has responded to concerns about school improvement planning in Region 6.

 

She says the region has reached a stage where a fresh round of school improvement plans are needed, but initial submissions by some principals fell short, failing to include critical areas such as human resource management and finance.

 

"It happened because our principals take those things for granted. They do those things every day, and so perhaps they didn't think that that should be a part of the school improvement plan. So the region now has set this workshop up together to correct that and to balance the approach. All areas of school improvement must be reflected in your plan. Some will get priority, and the resources that you'll get from the ministry, you will have to allocate more to some areas based on the gaps that you identify in your school self evaluation," she explained.

 

The ongoing Region 6 retreat is being used to guide school leaders in fixing gaps and getting their school improvement programmes back on track.
