Director of the Jamaica Music Museum Herbie Miller and musicologist and author Clyde McKenzie, speaking of the life and work of Desi Jones
Desi Jones, one of Jamaica’s pre-eminent musicians of the last half-century, has died.
Jones, the drummer who came to national and international prominence first with the group, Chalice, died on Saturday, at age 65.
After he left Chalice, he formed the band, Skool, but outside of those mainstays of his career, he was also known for his performances with Sonny Bradshaw’s Big Band and live performances on various shows.
He also played with many renowned Jamaican recording artistes, and wrote the instructional book, The Art of Reggae Drumming.
