Residents of Swansea, Clarendon are appealing for help after their houses were flooded on Sunday due to heavy rains.

They told Radio Jamaica News the water started rising about midday.

The residents say the area is in need of better drains.

"We live here for couple years now, long time we live here. But after a time now we understand that we have to pay for the land and we can't pay for a land like this under so much water. Every time rain fall, if the rain even dew, we flood out. The drainage block, it want clean; there is no one to come and render assistance. Even if dem dump up the land for us, we'll feel more better das we can be comfortable das as rain fall, we won't have fi flood out," Jacqueline, a resident of Swansea lamented.
