Alice, aunt of a woman who was shot during the robbery
By Courtney Morgan
Men armed with high powered rifles carried out a daring attack on the Bank of Nova Scotia on Caledonia Road on Friday evening. Six people were reportedly shot and wounded.
About 6 o'clock, security guards employed by Beryllium Security Company were pushing four bags with money on a trolley at the bank when they were attacked by armed men.
One of the guards reportedly challenged the men. The guards retreated under under attack and the robbers made off with two bags containing an undetermined sum of cash.
The robbers escaped in a silver Toyota Mark X motor vehicle along Ward Avenue.
A policeman who was nearby challenged the robbers as they made their escape.
None of the guards was shot but the police say six people turned up at the nearby Mandeville Hospital with what appeared to be gunshot wounds.
