Rushawn Patterson has been charged with the murder of social media influencer Aneka "Slickianna" Townsend.

Senior Superintendent Vernon Ellis, head of the St. James Police, said Mr. Patterson was charged following a ruling from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

In addition, 47-year-old security guard Rohan Rose, otherwise called 'Early B', has been charged with misprision of felony.

The body of 35-year-old Aneka Townsend, who was from Waterloo Road in St. Andrew, was found in the sea in Reading, St. James, on October 21.

A post mortem later concluded that she was strangled.

SSP Ellis said, on Thursday, October 20, Ms Townsend travelled from Kingston to Montego Bay, where she was picked up by Patterson about 7:30 p.m.

The two later visited a restaurant in Hanover and a guesthouse in St. James.

It's alleged that sometime that night, an argument developed between them, which resulted in Miss Townsend being strangled and her body disposed.

SSP Ellis said the police suspect Patterson may have been involved in other similar incidents, and are urging anyone with information that may assist to contact the Montego Bay CIB at 876-684-9080 or Crime Stop at 311, the police emergency at 119 or the nearest police station.
