Shortage of Irish potato in St. Elizabeth

Concerns are being raised about a shortage of Irish potatoes in St. Elizabeth. Over the past two weeks the commodity has been in short supply in the Santa Cruz Market.

This weekend there were no Irish potatoes for sale, which led to vendors calling for Roger Clarke, Minister of Agriculture, to produce the promised potatoes. The vendors said they will be seeking answers from the Minister.

When contacted, Norman Grant, President of the Jamaica Agricultural Society, said he was unaware of the shortage but would make further checks and provide an update later Saturday.
