Skeletal remains found in metal drum

The skeletal remains of a woman discovered Thursday in a metal drum in the vicinity of the ALPART mud lake in Nain, St. Elizabeth have been identified.

Family members Friday positively identified the corpse as that of 33-year-old Carolyn Miller, a resident of Mandeville.

The family was able to pinpoint the drum in which the body was found as one taken from the victim's home.

Female clothing and a sheet were also found at the scene.

About four o'clock Thursday afternoon a farmer was cutting yam sticks when he spotted the drum.

The farmer told the police he decided to take the drum home, however when he turned it over he discovered that it contained the remains.

The St. Elizabeth Police suspect the woman was killed elsewhere and her body dumped.

The police say forensic tests will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Miss Miller had been missing for several days.
